MANDELA MONTH ACTIVITIES The DR. J.S Moroka local Municipality led by Cllr MS Legong, the MMC responsible for Administration and Corporate Services accompanied by Mr J Shabangu joined the Vergenoeg Mine represented by Mr Linda Ngobe to donate 50 blankets to Boikhotsong Old Age Home in Ward 32, at Pankop yesterday (05 July 2024).This year’s Nelson Mandela Day is celebrated under the theme “It is in our hands to combat poverty and inequality “, which is a clarion call to all of us to get involved and participate in activities which will combat poverty and inequality in our society. “With one of our stakeholders Vergenoeg Mine today such clarion call as per the 2024 Mandela Day theme is the donation of 50 blankets to the elderly, this is one of the Mandela Month activities to embark on as the Municipality”, remarked Cllr Ms Legong. The Executive Mayor of Nkangala District Municipality Cllr TD Ngwenya ,accompanied by the Speaker Cllr KJ Boshomane & MMCs led the yesterday’s proceedings to handover the huneysucker truck to the DR. J.S Moroka local Municipality. The municipal leadership led by the Executive Mayor, Cllr NS Mtsweni, Speaker MR Nkoane, MMCs and Municipal Manager, Ms MM Mathebela and Executive managers gathered at the municipality’s technical services offices at Siyabuswa to accept the new honeysucker truck. In accepting the truck, the Executive Mayor Cllr NS Mtsweni appreciated the honeysucker truck,how it will accelerate service delivery and was thankful for NDM to always being responsive to the service delivery needs of the people.In his remarks, Cllr Ngwenya urged leaders to speedily respond to the service delivery needs of the communities and focus more on water provision as it is still a challenge at DRJSMLM .After the ribbon cutting session, before leaving the premises, the entourage moved to check the state of the mechanical workshop.
